Primary Investigator

Prof. Yuan Xie is leading the The JC STEM Lab of Future Advanced Computing Technology (FACT Lab) at HKUST. He joined HKUST in Fall 2024. He received a B.S. degree from Electronic Engineering Department at Tsinghua University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Electrical Engineering Department, Princeton University. He has a rich industry experience with IBM, AMD, and Alibaba Group. He was also on the faculty of Pennsylvania State University and University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of ACM, and a Fellow of AAAS. He is a recipient of many awards, including NSF CAREER Award (2006), IEEE Computer Society Edward J. McCluskey Technical Achievement Award (2021), and IEEE CAS Society Industrial Pioneer Award (2023).

His research interests include computer architecture and electronic design automation. He received the William J. McCalla Best Paper Award from ICCAD 2021 and the Best Paper Award Nomination from ISPD 2024.
